Lauren Collins, Wine Director at L'Espalier, joined the team in 2012 and is an Advanced Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. Lauren is one of five people in Boston to obtain this esteemed certification. She began studying with the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2009 and passed the Level 2 Certified Sommelier exam in 2010. Lauren also is a member of the Board of Directors of the Boston Sommelier Society.
Prior to arriving at L'Espalier, Lauren spent six years at Lower Falls Wine Co. (Newton, MA), where she tasted thousands of wines per year alongside seasoned veterans; and traveled to wine regions in France, Spain and the United States. Lauren also acted as auction liaison between Lower Falls and Skinner Inc. when both partners came together in 2007 to offer New England's first wine auctions. When Lauren decided to fully pursue the Master Sommelier track, she took a position as a sommelier at Les Zygomates (Boston, MA) and subsequently managed the wine program at Chiara Bistro (Westwood, MA).
Lauren is a graduate of Bowdoin College, where she majored in romance languages and minored in art history. Lauren's undying passion for wine goes hand in hand with her interest in culture, languages, history and gastronomy. The wine list at L'Espalier is celebrated for offering high-quality, distinctive bottlings and Lauren maintains this status by continually searching the globe for new treasures to add to the list. Managing wine at L'Espalier allows Lauren to satisfy her wanderlust on a daily basis while bringing an extra element to the dining experience of her guests.
